StarOil, has added RON 95 gasoline to its product lineup. This new offering comes in response to the growing demand from drivers of high-performance vehicles requiring higher octane fuel. But what does RON 95 mean for the average driver, and is it the right choice for your vehicle?
Understanding Octane Ratings
Every petrol vehicle has a manufacturer-recommended gasoline octane rating. This can typically be found in your vehicle manual or inside the fuel tank cover. For most gasoline vehicles in Ghana, the recommended octane rating is RON 91 (also known as AKI 87). RON 95 (AKI 91), on the other hand, is typically reserved for high-performance or specialized vehicles.
Should You Use RON 95?
Here are some key points to help you decide if RON 95 is the right fuel for your vehicle:
1. If your vehicle requires RON 91 (regular gasoline), using RON 95 is unnecessary and won’t provide any additional benefits. In fact, it’s simply an added expense without any improvement in performance.
2. If your vehicle recommends RON 95, you can safely use RON 91 under normal driving conditions. However, in situations such as high-speed driving or towing, you may want to opt for RON 95 to ensure optimal performance.
To confirm which fuel is best for your car, check your vehicle’s manual or the inside of your fuel tank cover. Vehicles equipped with turbochargers, or those labeled as “Supercharged” or “Turbocharged,” typically require RON 95.
While RON 95 is generally considered a premium fuel, StarOil ensures that it remains affordable for drivers. You can now purchase high-quality RON 95 at select StarOil stations, including Dawhenya, Dome Market, Koforidua Poly Junction, North Legon, and Pokuase ACP Junction, with more locations being added in the coming weeks.
Remember, if your vehicle doesn’t require RON 95, using it won’t necessarily benefit you.
