Residents of Ada, Magazine, Aboabo, Wawase, and Nkurakan clashed with the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Ghana Police Service during a protest over the poor state of the Koforidua-Nkurakan road. Frustrated by delays in the road's construction, the residents blocked the main road with various objects, including tyres and wooden boxes, to prevent traffic flow.

The demonstration, held by residents from the Yilo Krobo and New Juaben South constituencies, left many commuters stranded as the road was rendered impassable. Dressed in red and black, the protesters expressed their anger at the government's failure to complete the project, which has been ongoing since 2019.

According to the demonstrators, more than 10 lives have been lost in accidents on the road, including students and Okada riders, due to its dangerous condition. The protesters, led by four local assembly members and supported by the Adukrom Akwadum chief, Nana Asiedu Oduro, have given the government a two-week ultimatum to ensure the contractor resumes work, threatening further action if their demands are not met.

Placards carried by the protesters bore messages such as, "What have we done wrong?" and "President Nana Addo, we beg you." The residents are determined to see the road project completed and prevent more needless deaths.
